Dear fellow rhinologists,
I have just attended the World Rhinology meeting in Sao Paolo which combined the societies of IRS, ISIAN and the Brazilian Rhinologic Society. This highly successful meeting was attended by 1589 participants from 64 countries, including many residents and medical students and is a testimony to the continued and increasing popularity of rhinology and its allied subjects.
In July 2016, we will have another important opportunity to participate in the 26th European Rhinologic Society meeting in the beautiful city of Stockholm. This will again combine forces with ISIAN and IRS to provide a wide ranging exposition of all things sinonasal and beyond, to the interfaces with the skull base, orbit and lower respiratory tract, to encompass immunology and allergy, sleep apnoea and septorhinoplasty - in fact to provide ‘state of the art’ updates on basic science, translational and clinical advances which will be of help to rhinologists at all stages of their career. The title ‘Rhinological Disorders – a health priority for the future’ is particularly appropriate given the scientific and economic challenges we presently face throughout the world. Under the guidance of Professor Stjärne, his local organising committee and the ERS Scientific Committee, I can promise a meeting of great intellectual and practical value, a city of great culture, history and beauty and above all, a great rekindling of friendships for which rhinology is justifiably famous.
Save the date July 3-7, 2016, Stockholm!
Professor Valerie J LUND CBE
Secretary General , European Rhinologic Society
